Once again Odisha became the hot topic in India. Titilagarh a town in Balangir [Bolangir] District of Odisha, recorded the highest temperature 47.5 Deg. Celsius. It is expected to rise in the next two days. The next town Sonepur recorded 46.3 Deg. Celsius, Bolangir and Sundergarh recorded 46 degrees Celsius. Western Odisha is burning with high temperatures. In more than nine towns mercury crossed over 44 Deg. Celsius and in nearly 15 Districts the hot waves crossed 40 Deg. Celsius. The severe hot wave conditions prevailing in most interior districts of Odisha and two or three coastal places. The unbeatable hot places in Odisha were Sambalpur with 45.2 Degree Celsius and Angul with 45 Deg. Celsius, Hirakud 45.5 Deg. Celsius, Bhawanipatna with 44.5 Deg. Celsius, and Bhubaneswar with 43.5 deg. Celsius. The other place recorded temperatures is Baleswar with 41.2 Deg. Celsius, Baripada with 42.4 Deg. Celsius, Hirakud with 43.9 Deg. Celsius, Chandbali with 41.7 Deg. Celsius and Dhenkanal with 43.6 Deg. Celsius.
Mr P.K. Mahapatra Special Relief commissioner of Odisha confirmed there are 73 deaths due to sunstroke and severe hot-wave conditions. The heat wave condition may extend for a few more days in most parts of the Odisha state. The SRC Commissioner advised the public not to travel during the hot period from 11 am to 3 pm and to stay indoors. The Odisha government asked all the schools remain closed until April 26, 2016, due to the hot wave conditions and water crisis in the state.
