High Court Of Odisha
The High Court of Odisha is the highest court in the Indian state of Odisha.
The Bengal Presidency at the time was a vast province that included modern-day Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal. It was difficult to manage such a large administrative area populated by people speaking different languages and adhering to different traditions. Administrative reasons necessitated the separation of such areas, which did not previously exist as part of Bengal. On March 22, 1912, a new province of Bihar and Orissa(Odisha) was formed. The said new province of Bihar, as well as Bihar and Orissa, were, however, subject to the jurisdiction of the Calcutta High Court.
