Bhubaneswar: The state BJP's election manifesto, 'Sankalp Patra', has been released. BJP's national president, JP Nadda, unveiled the manifesto in Bhubaneswar. In his speech, JP Nadda referred to the BJP's manifesto as the 'Modi Guarantee for Odisha'. Additionally, the manifesto brought by the BJP for the state includes a significant promise.
Subhadra Yojana: A Step Towards Women-Led Development in Odisha
If the BJP comes to power in the state, the party has emphasized women in this manifesto. The manifesto promises that if the Bharatiya Janata Party comes to power in Odisha in 2024, it will launch the Subhadra Yojana for women. Under this scheme, each woman will receive a cash voucher worth 50,000 rupees.
National BJP president JP Nadda urged members of the party's women's wing to promote the Subhadra Yojana. Under this scheme, each woman in a family will receive a cash voucher of Rs 50,000 within two years of the BJP coming to power in the state.
Speaking at an event titled ‘Empowered Women Empowered Odisha’ at a hotel on the city's outskirts, Nadda said the new scheme in the BJP manifesto is aimed at empowering women. He explained that the cash voucher will be given to women, not men, to allow them to decide how best to use the money.
Nadda criticized the BJD government, accusing it of using women self-help groups to secure votes without improving their financial well-being. He stated that this will change once the BJP is in power. "Empowering a man is individual empowerment, while empowering a woman empowers a family. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the focus has shifted from women development to women-led development, gaining strong support from women," Nadda said.
Women will be able to spend this amount within two years. Additionally, the BJP has promised to create 2.5 million "Lakshapati Didis" in Odisha by 2027. To achieve this, the manifesto includes a commitment to establish 500 self-help group industrial clusters, providing marketing facilities and incentives for the products produced, as well as ensuring the sale of these products.
