Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Odisha on January 8 for the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Bhubaneswar, marking his first visit to the state in 2025.

Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards 2025

The Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA) is the highest honor given to overseas Indians. It will be presented by the Hon’ble President of India during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention. This award recognizes Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), or organizations run by them for their exceptional achievements in India and abroad.

The awards ceremony will take place during the Valedictory Session of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention in Bhubaneswar.

Selection Process

A Jury-cum-Awards Committee, chaired by the Hon’ble Vice-President of India, with the Hon’ble External Affairs Minister as Vice-Chair and other distinguished members, selected the awardees. These individuals and organizations have been recognized for their excellence in various fields.

The following individuals and organizations have been selected to receive the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards 2025:

Prof. Ajay Rane (Australia) - Recognized for his contributions to community service.


Dr. Marialena Joan Fernandes (Austria) - Selected for her achievements in education.


Dr. Philomena Ann Mohini Harris (Barbados) - Acknowledged for her work in medical science.


Swami Sanyuktanand (Fiji) - Honored for his contributions to community service.


Saraswati Vidya Niketan (Guyana) - Recognized for its role in community service.


Dr. Lekh Raj Juneja (Japan) - Selected for his advancements in science and technology.


Dr. Prem Kumar (Kyrgyz Republic) - Acknowledged for his contributions to medical science.


Mr. Soukthavy Chowdhury (Laos) - Recognized for his achievements in business.

‘Tan Sri’ Dr. Subramaniam K.V. Sathasivam (Malaysia) - Selected for his contributions to politics.

The awards will formally be presented at the convention, celebrating the outstanding achievements of the Indian diaspora.
